Unemployment in Russia will rise in autumn, but the situation on the labor market is under control – Ministry of Economic Development

The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation expects an increase in unemployment in the fall compared to current rates of 3.9%. At the same time, the situation on the Russian labor market is controlled, said the head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov at a meeting to support the economy, which takes place on Friday in Yekaterinburg.

“In our country, indeed, for the second month in a row, unemployment has been at a record low of 3.9%. At the same time, in a number of industries, in a number of enterprises, we see that there is an increase in part-time employment – indicators that need to be monitored closely. We think that in autumn we, unfortunately, will move away from these record low values. At the same time, the situation should not be dramatized, the situation is under control,” Reshetnikov said.

He stressed that Russian enterprises are trying to support the workforce as much as possible and are looking for work modes that will allow them to maintain employment in full. “Plus, a fairly large amount of funds has been allocated to support enterprises, and many mechanisms have been modified to now support jobs,” the minister added.
