Within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Uralkali PJSC entered into a number of agreements related to the strategic development of the enterprise.
New wagons will be delivered
Uralkali and NPK United Wagon Company signed a contract for the supply of innovative mineral locomotives. In accordance with the agreement, the United Wagon Company will supply Uralkali in 2021 with 100 hopper cars of model 19-9835-01 of increased carrying capacity produced by the Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant with an increased mileage between planned repair periods. The acquisition of the next batch of innovative cars is carried out as part of the implementation of the long-term strategy for the development of the car fleet of Uralkali and in order to ensure the stability of the supply of the company’s products to consumers.
Vitaly Lauk, General Director of PJSC Uralkali, noted that Uralkali has been operating innovative mineral locomotives manufactured by the Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant since 2015. Currently, the company’s fleet includes more than 1,500 such cars, which have proven themselves, first of all, from the point of view of reliability. Their use is economically feasible, taking into account the prospects for increasing the throughput of both the Russian Railways network and the access roads of Uralkali’s mining administrations and the company’s own port terminal.

Millions of tons will be transported
During the economic forum, Uralkali PJSC and RusTransCom LLC announced a strategic partnership and signed an agreement. The document was signed by Vitaly Lauk and Alexey Gribanov, First Vice President of RusTransCom LLC. The parties agreed to cooperate with the aim of timely shipment and transportation of growing volumes of Uralkali products in RusTransCom hopper cars, and other potential areas of cooperation were also outlined.
According to Vitaly Lauk, RusTransCom has been a reliable partner of Uralkali for many years. On average, the volume of cargo transportation by RusTransCom’s resources is about 1.5 million tons per year, with the prospect of increasing already this year to two million tons. The signing of the agreement will improve the efficiency of logistics processes, as well as guarantee the timely delivery of products to the consumer.
Aleksey Gribanov said: “From the beginning of 2018 to April 2021, we have carried out more than 70,000 railcar dispatches for Uralkali. Over the next five years, under the baseline scenario, we plan to provide transportation of 10 million tons, or 143,000 railcar dispatches.”
Employees will improve their qualifications
Uralkali and the Agency for the Development of Professional Skills (WorldSkills Russia), which is working to promote advanced training standards, including the development of an independent assessment of competencies in Russia and other countries, entered into an agreement on cooperation in the field of human resources development. The document was signed by Vitaly Lauk and Director General of the Agency for the Development of Professional Skills (WorldSkills Russia) Robert Urazov. The purpose of the agreement is to unite efforts in the development of human resources and professional competencies in the industry, increase the prestige of workers and engineering professions, exchange experience in the field of modern tools and mechanisms for assessing qualifications.
According to the general director of Uralkali, the development of cooperation with WorldSkills Russia is the next stage in the comprehensive improvement of Uralkali’s personnel training system, increasing efficiency and increasing labor productivity.
