This Tuesday, the Uruguay team traveled to Caracas to draw 0-0 with Venezuela. The result valid for the South American Qualifiers does not help anyone in the table, despite the added point for each side.
Uruguay failed to break the negative streak and repeated the goalless score of the last commitment, against Paraguay. At the same time, Venezuela struggled to find its way back to victory and was unsuccessful.
The lukewarm and unemotional confrontation in Caracas featured a single ball in the net – Josef Martínez’s goal was canceled by the VAR, still in the first stage.
The two teams still created some opportunities, most of the time from the opponent’s error, but goalkeepers Graterol and Muslera ensured the score zeroed until the final whistle.
Venezuela is at the bottom of the table, sharing the bottom with Peru – with four points. Uruguay reaches eight points and may leave the G5 at the end of the round.
