US Air Force launched a series of strikes in Afghanistan

The US military launched several air strikes in Afghanistan this week to support Afghan government forces fighting against Taliban rebels (banned in Russia), the Associated Press reported, citing unnamed US officials.

In particular, the attacks fell on the province of Kandahar, which is considered strategically important, the agency’s interlocutors explained.

The Associated Press notes that the air strikes show that “the United States intends to assist the Afghan security forces fighting the Taliban. This assistance will last at least until the completion of the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan on August 31.”
