Double blow for Max Verstappen. The Dutch Red Bull driver won the Mexican Grand Prix this Sunday. This success allows him to increase his lead at the top of the world championship standings ahead of Lewis Hamilton, second at the finish behind the wheel of his Mercedes. The seven-time world champion resisted the return of Mexican Sergio Perez (Red Bull) at the end of the race. The French Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) took fourth place, ahead of the Monegasque of Scuderia Ferrari, Charles Leclerc. The second Frenchman in this Mexican GP, Esteban Ocon (Alpine), finished 13th.
This is the ninth victory for Max Verstappen this season, the 19th overall. 19 is also the number of points of difference between the leader in the drivers standings and his illustrious runner-up, Lewis Hamilton. The next Grand Prix will take place next week in Brazil.
