The South Korean ambassador in Cairo, Hong Ye Jin-wook, paid a visit to the industrial zone in East Port Said, and was received by the Governor, Major General Adel Ghadban.
The ambassador indicated that there are current consultations with the aim of establishing a factory in East Port Said for the local manufacture of metro trains.
The Korean ambassador requested support for this project, which will contribute to increasing Egyptian exports to neighboring countries. He also requested the governor’s support to encourage more Korean companies to invest in Port Said, especially through the infrastructure that would facilitate the companies’ activity and work.
The governor briefed the ambassador on the current situation of industrialization in Port Said, expressing his hope that more Korean companies will invest in the province, adding that he will make every possible effort to support Korean companies, including building the necessary infrastructure.
The ambassador said that Korea and Port Said share the experience of growth and reconstruction from the ruins of war, pointing out that Port Said enjoys a geographical advantage as it links the two continents, Africa and Asia.
Ambassador Hong also visited the special economic zone of the Suez Canal and toured the factories in the area. He also discussed with officials of the Suez Canal Economic Authority in the northern region, cooperation plans between the two countries and opportunities for Korean investments in the region.
