While the country is going through the worst moment of the pandemic and 21 capitals have occupancy of ICU beds above 90%, data released by determination of the TCU (Federal Audit Court) show that the Armed Forces reserved beds in wards and ICUs only for military personnel. —In some hospitals, the rate of idle beds reaches 85%.
The TCU determined the disclosure of the information in the midst of an investigation into possible irregularities committed by the Ministry of Defense, Army, Navy and Air Force in not offering military hospital beds to civilians.
In this Thursday’s episode (8), Café da Manhã talks to the reporter of sheet Vinícius Sassine, who revealed in a report the bed reservation by the military. He explains how Armed Forces hospitals work, what the military claims for blocking vacancies and the reaction of politicians to the news.
