World War II veteran shared his impressions after performing the anthem of Azerbaijan at the Formula 1 Grand Prix

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15Trend: Atesh Garayev, a veteran of the Patriotic War, opera singer, performed the National Anthem of Azerbaijan as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Baku.

He shared his impressions with the Trend film crew.

According to Garayev, when he sang the National Anthem of Azerbaijan at such a prestigious event, he was overwhelmed with a sense of pride.

“I was proud to sing our anthem at the event, which was followed by millions of spectators around the world. As a citizen of a country that won a glorious Victory in the Patriotic War, as a soldier of a victorious army, I was happy that this mission was entrusted to me,” said the performer.

He also expressed gratitude to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev for the victory of Azerbaijan in the Patriotic War, for the feelings that the head of state gave to all Azerbaijanis.

“We have restored our territorial integrity and historical justice. For all this, we should be grateful to our Supreme Commander-in-Chief,” Garayev said.

According to him, in Azerbaijan, participants in the war, families of martyrs and disabled people are surrounded by the care of the state.

Recall that the opera singer Atesh Garayev performing in Russia returned to Azerbaijan when the Patriotic War began and voluntarily left for the front. He took part in battles in the Fizuli, Dzhebrail, Khojavend directions and for the city of Shusha.

Atesh Garayev also spoke about his combat path.

“I have many memories of the war. I can say that the Azerbaijani military did not retreat a single step in 44 days of battles. We always went forward because we fought for our land. We knew that our people rallied around the President in an iron fist, and it gave us strength, “he said.
